#19 Tartans Beat La Roche 72-47, Move to 9-0

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The 19th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted La Roche University on Tuesday, December 17 after a week break for finals and topped the Redhawks, 72-47, putting them at 9-0 for the season. The Redhawks are now 7-4 overall.

Inside the Box Score

• Senior Anisha Chintala scored the first basket of the game with a layup following her own steal, as the Tartans opened the game with a14-point run.
• Junior Nicole Timko made a three-pointer at 2:44 remaining in the first quarter for the team's 14th point.
• With 2:06 remaining in the first quarter, the Redhawks scored their first point of the game which started a seven-point scoring streak to end the frame.
• Senior Catherine Or scored the first points of the second quarter with a jump shot at 8:31 on the clock and went on to score seven for the period to lead all players with 13 points at the break.
• Through a series of plays including a three-pointer from Or and layups from junior Savannah Gibbs, the Tartans led 29-20 at the end of the second quarter. 
• Another 14-point run by the Tartans to open the second half gave the home team a 23-point advantage with Gibbs accounting for half the points scored.
• Or's hot hand continued in the third quarter, as she was 4-of-5 from the field for 11 points.
• Sophomore Anna Prouty scored three layups in the last three minutes of the game to lead the Tartans in the fourth quarter with six points. Freshman Payton Baney had four points.

• The Tartans ended the game shooting 38.6% (27-70) from the floor and converted 4-of-18 from behind the arc for 22.2%.
• The Tartans had 49 rebounds and 10 assists.
• Or finished with 26 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while shooting 11-of-13 from the field.
• Gibbs tallied 16 points with seven rebounds while Baney and Chintala had five and four steals, respectively.

• The Redhawks ended the game shooting 33.9% (19-56) from the floor and converted 0-of-9 from behind the arc. 
• The Redhawks had 37 rebounds and five assists. 
• Dasja Anderson had 17 points and seven rebounds.
