#23 Tartans Return From Break with 69-43 Win at Wooster

(WOOSTER, Ohio) – The 23rd-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team defeated The College of Wooster on Friday, December 6 by a 69-43 score. The Tartans move to 8-0 this season, winning their third away game.

Inside the Box Score

  • Junior Savannah Gibbs stole the ball in the first thirty seconds of the game and turned it into an assist after senior Anisha Chintala made a layup.
  • The Tartans kept the lead through the beginning of the first quarter until 4:46 left on the clock, when Wooster scored a three-pointer to make the score 11-8. The home team would finish the frame with a two-point lead after the lead switched hands twice before Ella Biondi broke a 16-16 tie with a layup.
  • The Tartans tied the game within the first minute of the second quarter and went on to win the frame 20-6 to lead 36-24 at halftime.

  • Wooster scored 13 points in the final quarter while the Tartans scored 15 to finish with the 69-43 victory.

  • Or was also the game playmaker with five assists and 16 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
