  • Softball to Host Prospect Camp in October

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball program will be hosting a prospect camp on Sunday, October 6. The Tartans finished their inaugural season in 2019 with two players receiving All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors and a 13-25 record.
  • Two Earn NFCA All-America Scholar Honors

    Two Carnegie Mellon University softball athletes were honored for their 2018-19 academic success by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Senior Rae Lasko (Diamond Bar, Calif. / Diamond Bar) and freshman Kyra Musmanno (West Windsor, N.J. / West Windsor-Plainsboro) were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes for finishing the year with a 3.5 GPA or better.
  • Hu, McGee Honored on All-UAA Softball Team

    Two Carnegie Mellon University softball freshmen earned the first-ever All-University Athletic Association (UAA) awards in program history when the UAA announced the 2019 All-Association Softball Team today. Shortstop Megan Hu (Katy, Texas/Seven Lakes) and pitcher Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) each earned a place on the second team after leading the Tartans to a 13-25 record in the inaugural season for the university.
  • Tartans Split Series with NYU to Close Inaugural Season

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team closed its inaugural season with a series split after a doubleheader split with New York University on Sunday, April 28. The Tartans earned a 13-25 overall record and 5-15 mark in the University Athletic Association (UAA) following a 6-1 game-one victory and 10-8 game-two loss.
  • Four-Run Seventh Inning Leads Tartans to Split with NYU

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team played a doubleheader against New York University on Saturday, April 27 at Fordham University as part of the season-closing University Athletic Association (UAA) series for both teams. The Violets took game one by a 5-2 score before the Tartans scored four runs in the seventh inning of game two to win 7-5. The Tartans are now 12-24 overall and 4-14 in the UAA while the Violets are 19-12 and 7-8.
  • Tartans Hammer 29 Hits in Doubleheader Split at Washington and Jefferson
    April 23, 2019
    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team recorded a season-high number of hits in a doubleheader split at Washington and Jefferson College on Tuesday, April 23. The Tartans won game one 17-7 behind a season-high 23 hits before dropping the second game 3-2 to move to 11-23 for the year.
  • Tartans Drop a Pair to End Series with #20 Brandeis
    April 21, 2019
    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team dropped the last two games of the four-game series with 20th-ranked Brandeis University on Sunday, April 21 by scores of 5-1 and 6-2 at Seneca Valley High School in Harmony, Pennsylvania. The Tartans are now 10-22 for the season and 3-13 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Judges move to 25-2-1 and 10-2.
  • #20 Brandeis Squeaks by Tartans, 3-2

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team continued action against 20th-ranked Brandeis University on Saturday, April 20, falling 3-2 in game one before game two was suspended in the first inning due to lightning. The Tartans are now 10-20 overall and 3-11 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) while the Judges are 22-2-1 and 8-2.
  • Tartans Win Series Opener Against #20 Brandeis

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team gave 20th-ranked Brandeis University its second loss of the season with a 2-1 win to start the four-game series on Friday, April 19. With the second game being postponed until Sunday, April 21, the Tartans are now 10-19 overall and 3-10 in the University Athletic Association (UAA), while the Judges move to 21-2-1 and 7-2.
  • Tartans Fall Twice at Geneva

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team traveled to Geneva College for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 17, falling to the Golden Tornadoes 5-4 in game one and 7-2 in game two. The Tartans are now 9-19 for the season while Geneva moves to 16-14.

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team split the final doubleheader with Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday, April 13. The Tartans won game one by a 5-3 score before falling 7-1 in game two.
  • Tartans Squander Leads, Fall Twice to WashU

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team hosted University Athletic Association (UAA) opponent Washington University in St. Louis on Friday, April 12 for a doubleheader at its home field UPMC All-American Park in Trafford, Pennsylvania. The Bears were able to come-from-behind in both games to steal two road wins by 5-3 and 7-3 scores.
  • Tartans Sweep Saint Vincent in Non-Conference Action

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team swept two games at Saint Vincent College on Wednesday, April 10 to advance to 8-14 for the season. Freshman pitcher Gwen Delacruz (Laguna Nigel, Calif. / Aliso Niguel) earned a 3-1 victory in game one while freshman pitcher Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Huntington Beach) was the winning pitcher in game two by a 6-4 score after nine innings.
  • McGee Shines on Mound and at Plate in Tartans First UAA Win

    Freshman pitcher Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) pitched a complete game and was perfect at the plate to lead the Carnegie Mellon University softball team to its first University Athletic Association (UAA) victory. The win came by a 7-1 score at Case Western Reserve University in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday, April 7. The Spartans held on for a 5-4 win in game one and are now 15-7 and 4-2 for the year while the Tartans are 6-14 and 1-7.
  • Johnson Brings Home ECAC South Rookie of the Month Honors for March

    Carnegie Mellon University freshman Piper Johnson (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Softball South Rookie of the Month for the month of March.
  • Tartans Open Four-Game Series at Case Western Reserve

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team continued University Athletic Association (UAA) action on Friday, April 5 with a doubleheader at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. The Spartans won both games, moving to 13-6 and 2-1 for the season, while the Tartans dropped to 5-13 and 0-6.
  • Song Records Five Hits, 2 RBIs in Two Games at Emory
    March 30, 2019
    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team closed a road trip to University Athletic Association (UAA) opponent Emory University on Saturday, March 30 with two losses to the now 18-4 Eagles. Despite scoring first in the first game, the Tartans fell 4-1. The Eagles then won the second game 10-2 in six innings. Freshman Emily Song (Mount Arlington, N.J. / Roxbury) led the Tartan offense with five hits in six at bats.
  • Tartans Open UAA Play at Emory

    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team began University Athletic Association (UAA) play at Emory University with a doubleheader on Friday, March 29. The Eagles, who entered the day 14-4, picked up two wins (6-2 and 17-1, five innings) against the now 5-9 Tartans.
  • Tartans Split Home Doubleheader with Penn State Behrend
    March 26, 2019
    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team hosted Penn State Behrend for a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 26 splitting action winning game one, 9-0 in five innings, before falling 9-1 in six innings in game two. The games were played at Seton Hill University with the Tartans moving to 5-7 for the year and the Lions to 7-7.
  • Tartans Sweep UAA Softball Athlete of the Week Awards

    Two Carnegie Mellon University softball freshmen earned weekly recognition from the University Athletic Association (UAA) as pitcher and hitter of the week after the team closed the spring trip to Florida with a 4-4 record. Pitcher Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) earned her second straight award while catcher/third baseman Piper Johnson (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King) was honored for her offensive performance.
  • Pederson Homers Twice; McGee Throws No Hitter in Daily Split

    Freshman Audrey Pederson (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) hit two home runs and freshman Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) pitched a five-inning no hit shutout as the Carnegie Mellon University softball team split action on the final day of the 10-game spring trip to Florida. Freshman Piper Johnson (Riverside, Calif./Martin Luther King) added offensive power with a 6-for-7 day with five RBIs and her second home run of the season.
  • Johnson's Walk Off Spurs Doubleheader Sweep

    Freshman Piper Johnson (Riverside, Calif. / River Martin Luther King) hit the first home run in program history and it happened to be a walk-off shot to lead the Carnegie Mellon University softball team to a 6-4 game one victory against SUNY Potsdam on Thursday, March 14. The Tartans then knocked around 17 hits in a 19-4 second game victory against the Bears. The Tartans move to 3-5 for the season while Potsdam dropped to 3-7.
  • Tartans Drop a Pair on Third Day of Spring Trip
    March 12, 2019
    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team dropped a pair of games on Tuesday, March 12 in Kissimmee, Florida. The first game favored Marietta College, 6-0, before Meredith College was able to finish off a 3-1 win against the Tartans who are now 1-5 for the year.
  • Tartans Win First Game in Program History, Split the Day

    Behind the pitching of freshman Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Huntington Beach High School), the Carnegie Mellon University softball team won the program’s first game in school history by a 4-1 score against Arcadia University on Monday, March 11. The Tartans split action for the day, falling 6-5 to Wisconsin Lutheran University in the second game of the day, to move to 1-3 for the year.
  • McGee Named UAA Pitcher of the Week

    Carnegie Mellon University freshman Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach) earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week for her debut action on Sunday, March 10 for the Tartans softball team. The award marks the first in program history for the first year program.
  • Tartans Open Inaugural Season
    March 10, 2019
    The Carnegie Mellon University softball team opened its inaugural season in Winter Haven, Florida, with two games on Sunday, March 10 against Beloit College and Wheaton (Mass.) College. The first game, which was played under protest by the Tartans, finished with Beloit winning, 6-2. After a short break, the Tartans then faced the Lyons, falling 5-4.
  • Carnegie Mellon Softball Highlights from Sept 29 Playdate

    A few highlights from the Tartans fall play date at Geneva College. This game was against Penn State Altoona. The team played three games with the other two against Geneva College and Carlow University.
