Degen Earns Weekly UAA Award
(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University senior George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) earned the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week award following his championship finish at the UAA Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 1.
Degen eclipsed the 8k course at Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri, in 25:05.85 to win the race and lead the Tartans to a second-place team finish. He was nearly two seconds ahead of the second finisher and became the first Tartan to win the conference championship since Jim Langer in 1993.
Degen and the rest of the Tartans will next compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional on Saturday, November 15 at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania. The race is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
