Tartans Open 2026 at Leo Miller/Hayden Snow Meet
(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed in the John Carroll University Leo Miller/Hayden Snow Meet of Champions on Saturday, January 24.
Top Track Performances
- Senior Kenji Tella set a new facility record after he won the 5000-meter run in a 15:12.65, he was followed by teammates junior Angelo Parrino who placed second with a 15:38.97.
- In the 60-meter dash junior Matthew Yu placed third with a time of 6.98, a new personal record. Sophomore Devin Chang ran a time of 7.06 to place sixth. Yu also placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.87.
- Freshman Stefan Langridge won the mile with a time of 4:15.30, setting a new facility record and running a collegiate best. In fifth place freshman Jack Flori ran 4:22.83 in his first ever collegiate race. Junior Christian Brower ran his first track race since his freshman year with a 4:25.48 placing sixth.
- In the 400-meter dash freshman Eric de Oliveira went under the previous facility record with a time of 50.45 getting him third place. Senior Jeremy Ocloo also went under the facility record with a time of 50.62 placing him fifth.
- Sophomore Veyd Patil ran a 2:00.31 to place third in the 800-meter, followed closely by junior Connor Reidy who ran 2:01.14 to place fourth, also under the facility record.
- Junior Matthew Short won the 3000-meter run with a time of 8:26.25, a new personal best, followed by senior Ryan Podnar who ran an 8:28.08 also a personal best, all under the previous facility record.
- The 4x400-meter relay placed second with a time of 3:22.95, just a half a second away from making the Carnegie Mellon Indoor all-time list
Top Field Performances
- Senior Morgan Johnson won the triple jump, jumping 13.83 meters, setting a new facility record and a new personal record. Johnson also won the long jump, setting a new facility record of 7.06 meters, a new indoor best, moving him to third on the all-time indoor list.
- Senior Sam Alligood placed sixth in weight throw, throwing 14.11 meters.
- In the shot put senior Johnathan Crawshaw threw 14.70 meters to place third, followed by Alligood who threw 14.49 to place fourth.
- In a Tartans sweep in the pole vault all clearing 4.30 metrers, junior Solomon Glavach, sophomore Lucas Knappenberger and junior Ryan Handron took first through third, all setting a new facility record
