ITA Honors Men’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; Nine Named Scholar Athletes
(TEMPE, Ariz.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team was honored for the 15th straight season and 22nd time in the last 23 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, nine players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above during the last academic year. The Tartans achieved a cumulative average of 3.72 for the year.
In addition to the team honor, seniors Jaden D'Abreo, Nadim Motaghedi, Nicholas Wernink and Derek Wong, junior William Wang, sophomore Akshay Joshi, and first-year athletes Raghav Jangbahadur, Daniel Kong, and Justin Yi were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes.
In order to be eligible to be an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a player must have an academic year GPA of at least 3.50 and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
