#13 Tartans Place Fourth at UAA Championship
(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team lost to #21 Case Western Reserve University Saturday, April 28 in the third-place match of the University Athletic Association Championship by the score of 6-3. The match was played at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla., as the Tartans move their record to 13-8.
The Tartans picked up wins at first and second doubles to take a 2-1 lead into single play. The tandem of junior Duke Miller (Poway, Calif./Poway) and freshman Will Duncan (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) won 9-8 (4) in the one spot while freshman Thomas Cooper (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque Academy) and junior Jooho Yu (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) won 8-6 at second doubles.
Case won five of six singles matches to take a 6-3 victory. The Tartans lone win came from Duncan at third singles as he won 6-3, 6-4.
