Garten Named UAA Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University freshman Idan Garten was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week for his performance over a two-game stretch for the Tartans from September 8-14. The honor is the first of the season for Garten and the Tartans.

Garten was responsible for three of the four goals scored by the Tartans this week in a 1-1 tie at Ohio Wesleyan University on Wednesday and a 3-0 victory at home against John Carroll University on Saturday. Garten started the week with an 89th-minute strike at OWU to help the Tartans record a road point. He followed that with his first career multi-goal game on Saturday against the Blue Streaks with tallies in the 22nd and 81st minutes while putting another two shots on goal. Garten now has a three-game goal-scoring streak and has scored in four of the team's six games.

The Tartans continue the season on Wednesday, September 17 at Chatham University at 7:00 p.m.
