Tartans Score Two as Yamamoto Shuts Out Baldwin Wallace

(ERIE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team took on Baldwin Wallace University at the Penn State Behrend Tournament, opening the season with a 2-0 win on Friday, August 29. The Tartans start 1-0 for the season while the Yellowjackets fall 0-1.

Inside the Box Score

  • Sophomore James Ashby took the first shot of the game in the fifth minute, which was saved by the Yellowjackets.
  • Junior Kai Yamamoto recorded his first shutout of the season with five saves in the game, making  three between the 11th and 21st minutes of the game.
  • After a substitution cycle in the first half, freshman Idan Garten scored the first goal for the Tartans in the 45th minute assisted by senior Rohan Dhingra. This marked Garten's first career goal.
  • The second and final score of the game was collected by Dhingra, assisted by junior Justin Fung in the 76th minute of the game.
  • Carnegie Mellon tallied a total of 10 shots, with three being on goal.
