Tartans Drop Tightly Contested Match at John Carroll

(UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team visited John Carroll University on Thursday, September 5 and dropped the contest, 1-0. After an intense back and forth game, the Tartans surrendered a goal in the second half, making them 1-1-1 for the season.

Inside the Box Score

  • The Blue Streaks took their first shot in the seventh minute and had another attempt in the eighth minute.
  • The Tartans' second shot of the game was taken by sophomore Justin Fung and was blocked in the 17th minute of the game followed by a low shot on goal by senior Chris Lee that was saved by JCU's goalie Brenden Moher.
  • Lee had a second shot stopped by Moher two minutes later which proved to be the last shot on goal for either team in the first half.
  • The Tartans put another two shots on goal in the second half before a team save by the Tartans kept the game at 0-0 in the 82nd minute.
  • The Blue Streaks ended up scoring the winning goal in the 87th minute of the game with a kick to the high left corner by Jaden Wright.
  • Junior Mark Martinez made five saves in the game.
