(ERIE, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team, who moved up to eighth in the national rankings this week, traveled to Penn State Behrend in Erie, Pennsylvania, for a non-conference matchup. The Tartans topped the Lions 4-1 behind four first-half goals.
Sophomore Jordi Long (Silver Spring, Md. / Montgomery Blair) opened the scoring in the ninth minute with his third goal of the season off an assist from senior Jamie Wheaton (Lexington, Mass. / Lexington). The Tartans (8-0-2) were controlling the action prior to Long's goal as they had two corner kicks and two shots in the first eight minutes of action.

Three minutes later, junior Elliot Cohen (Solana Beach, Calif. / Canyon Crest Academy) put in a shot off an assist by senior Jack McCambridge (Bethlehem, Pa. / Moravian Academy).
Another strike by the Tartans came in the 38th minute when senior Philip Petrakian (Redwood City, Calif. / Sacred Heart Preparatory) put in a rebound off a save the Behrend's keeper. Junior Nicolas Poveda (Miami, Fla. / Coral Gables) earned the assist on the play as he took the shot saved by Chris Ralph.
The Lions (6-3-2) broke up the shutout with a penalty kick goal in the 39th minute.
The game's score stayed the same through the final 45 minutes with senior Alec Lam (Upper Saddle River, N.J. / Northern Highlands Regional) earning his fourth win of the year in net for the Tartans.
