Bio

Kenne Johnson begins his first year on the Carnegie Mellon staff in 2026, as he will be working with the inside linebackers.

In 2024, Johnson was the wide receiver coach and strength and conditioning coordinator at Saint Vincent College. Prior to his time with the Bearcats, he served as the defensive line coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and spent two seasons on the coaching staff at Shepherd University. In 2019, Shepherd led the PSAC in interceptions and ranked eighth nationally. Before his tenure at Shepherd University, Johnson served as the defensive line coach and defensive passing game coordinator at Seton Hill University during the 2018 season. Before that, he was defensive coordinator at Lincoln University.

Johnson's college coaching career began at Frostburg State University, where he coached wide receivers, defensive line and served as the recruiting coordinator from 2014 to 2016.

Johnson is a 2013 graduate of Lincoln University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in health science. He went on to earn a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Frostburg State in 2016. While at Lincoln, he was a four-year member of the football team where he earned recognition as the team’s Most Valuable Player in his final two seasons. Johnson was also actively involved in student leadership roles, serving on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and assuming the presidency of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship.

Johnson and his wife Zsa Zsa Cobb-Johnson have two sones and currently reside in the Freedom Area in Beaver County.
