(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University senior Michael Lohmeier (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central) was recognized nationally on the D3football.com Team of the Week and also was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week following his play Saturday in the Tartans' 24-3 win over Waynesburg University.
Lohmeier led a defensive effort that limited the Yellow Jackets to 122 yards of total offense while allowing just 31 yards on the ground. It marked the 16th straight win for the Tartans when holding their opponent to under 300 yards of total offense. The senior turned in a career game with 11 tackles (6 solo), 4.0 tackles for a loss and 2.0 sacks. Lohmeier moved into seventh place on the school's all-time sack list and now has 15.0 in his career.
Carnegie Mellon will travel to Bethany College on Saturday, October 19 for a 4:00 p.m. kick against the Bison for the Tartans final road contest of the season.
