Hayden Hunt joined the Carnegie Mellon University cross country staff as a volunteer assistant coach in August of 2024.

In his first year with the program, the Tartans competed in the NCAA Championships, finishing 25th. The Tartans were runners-up at the Mid-Atlantic Regional in 2024, while six runners earned All-Region accolades.

A graduate of Shippensburg University in 2023, Hunt went on to earn his master’s degree in business administration from Shippensburg in 2024. Hunt was named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Cross Country Freshman of the Year. He was a two-time Division II NCAA qualifier in cross country while also a two-time PSAC champion on the track (Indoor 5,000-meter in 2023 and Outdoor 10,000-meter in 2024).

In addition to his academic degrees, Hunt is a level one USA Track and Field Coach.
