Two All-Americans Lead Tartans to Sixth Place at NCAA Championships

(SPARTANBURG, S.C.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country program had its best performance in over 30 years at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with team placing sixth to mark the program's best finish since 1998. Three athletes finished in the top one hundred with graduate student Chloe Bonson and junior Maya Ducker earning All-America honors. 

Results:

  • Bonson made history by finishing in sixth place, the highest placement of any previous Tartan All-American. Bonson ran a time of 21:17.8 to lead the Tartans to a strong finish.
  • Ducker finished in 34th place to claim All-American status with a time of 21:54.2, 140 spots better than her 2024 NCAA appearance.
  • Finishing in 55th was junior Ananya Devpura with a time of 22:16.45.
  • Senior Margaret Ann Healy was 114th with a time of 22:54. This was 167 spots better than her 2024 NCAA appearance.
  • Rounding out the top five was sophomore Elise Kempf in 134th with a time of 23:04.3 in her first NCAA appearance.
  • Shortly behind Kempf was sophomore Emma Horsley in 144th with a time of 23:08.2.
  • Senior Orit Shiang finished in 173rd with a time of 23:18.6.

Notes

  • The Tartans sixth-place is the program's best since a fourth-place showing in 1998.
  • Bonson and Ducker are the 6th and 7th All-Americans in Carnegie Mellon women's cross country history.
  • Two other times the Tartans had two All-Americans at the same meet, in 1997 and 1998.
