Tartans Place Second at UAA Championship

(EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.) - The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team competed at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship hosted by Washington University in St. Louis at a nearby course in Edwardsville, Illinois. The women finished in second place behind fifth-ranked NYU, making this the highest UAA finish since 1998. Four of the Tartans achieved all-conference status.

Inside the Results

• Graduate student Chloe Bonson once again had a dominant performance, finishing ahead of previous All-Americans. Bonson outkicked NYU's Josephine Dziedzic to place second with a time of 21:07.8. Bonson achieved All-UAA First Team honors. 
• Junior Ananya Devpura finished in seventh place with a time of 21:39.4, also achieving All-UAA First Team status.
• Finishing in a time of 22:00.1 was junior Maya Ducker in 11th place, achieving All-UAA Second Team status. 
• Shortly behind her was sophomore Elise Kempf in 13th place with a time of 22:03.4, also achieving All-UAA Second Team status.
• Senior Orit Shiang rounded out the top five scorers for the Tartans with a time of 25:48.1 placing 22nd.
• Sophomore Emma Horsley and senior Margaret Ann Healy finished 43rd and 44th respectively with times of 22:46.7 and 22:49.4.

The Tartans will race at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, November 15 at 12:00 p.m. at Big Spring High School in Newville, Pennsylvania, hosted by Dickinson College.
