#9 Tartans Open Season Placing Second at Panther Open

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross-country team started the year strong with many personal records at the Panthers Opener hosted by the University of Pittsburgh at Schenley Park near the CMU campus. The women ran the 5k course against Pittsburgh and Mount Union, placing second, in a tight race against Pittsburgh.

Results:

  • Graduate student Chloe Bonson dominated the field finishing first overall in a blistering time of 17:20.20.
  • Junior Ananya Devpura crossed second for the Tartans and fifth overall in 17:52.60.
  • Sophomore Elise Kempf finished in 17:58.70 to place seventh overall.
  • Senior Margaret Ann Healy was fourth for the Tartans and ninth overall in 17:59.00.
  • Junior Maya Ducker followed shortly behind finishing 10th in 18:00.10.
  • Crossing in 16th was Sophomore Emma Horsley with a time of 18:29.50.
  • Senior Jackie Liu finished in 19th, with a time of 18:41.90.

The Tartans break for a week before another local race in Pennsylvania when they compete at the Robert Morris Invitational on Friday, September 12 at 9:15 a.m. The race will be held at Youthtowne in Clinton, Pennsylvania.
