Wobb Leads Tartans in Fifth-Place Finish

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Junior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) added to her list of top performances with a first-place finish at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational on Saturday, October 8, in Schenley Park. The Tartans women's cross country team finished fifth overall as Division II Ashland University took first place.

Wobb finished the 5k course with her best time of 18:32.36, knocking 20 seconds off her time from last season. This marks the second race Wobb has won this season as she won the 6k at Dickinson two weeks ago.

Sophomore Catherine Paquette (Bethel, Ohio/Archbishop McNicholas) finished second for the Tartans and 26th overall in 20:08.63. Junior Eva Humphrey (Asheville, N.C.) wasn't far behind as she finished 29th overall in 20:19.68. Freshman Hailey Brown (Wellsville, N.Y.) was next in 30th place with a time of 20:20.29.

Senior Cassie Wallace (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) was fifth for the Tartans and 34th overall as she crossed the finish line in 20:22.64. Freshman Halley Bayer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) finished in 20:40.78 for 39th place as fellow freshman Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif.) was seventh for the Tartans in 20:55.50 for 49th place.

The Tartans will next compete at Penn State University on Friday, October 14, with an 11:00 a.m. start time.
