McCullough Sets Discus School Record at UAA Championships
(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field competed in the final day at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championships on Sunday hosted by Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. The Tartans placed sixth with 73.5 points while Washington University in St. Louis won the title with 221 points.
Top Performances on the Track
- The team of freshman Sophia Riche, sophomore Catherine Stava, senior Iniyaa Mohanraj, and senior Zoe King placed sixth in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 51.95.
- Senior Margaret Ann Healy placed second in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:33.98.
- Mohanraj ran the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 16.20, placing sixth.
- Senior Alexa Lowe finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 1:04.15.
- Graduate student Chloe Bonson placed second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:59.93. Junior Maya Ducker placed fifth with a time of 17:26.29.
Top Performances on the Field
- Freshman Violet McCullough finished third in discus with a school record throw of 40.88 meters. She topped her previous school record set earlier this year of 40.83 meters
- Mohanraj, Lowe, and Riche placed fifth, sixth, and seventh in the triple jump with marks of 11.10 meters, 11.10 meters, and 11.04 meters, respectively. Lowe's jump was a career best.
- Sophomore Catalina Howells cleared the bar at 1.57 meters in high jump and placed seventh.
