Bonson Wins 10,000m Race to Begin UAA Championships
(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team began the University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championships on Saturday, April 25 at Case Western Reserve University. Graduate student Chloe Bonson is a UAA Champion while a relay team set a new school record.
Top Performances on the Track
- Graduate student Chloe Bonson became the second straight 10,000-meter champion for the Tartans with a career-best time of 36:00.32.
- Junior Alaina Patel finished eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a career-topping time of 11:32.16.
- The team of senior Margaret Ann Healy, sophomore Emma Horsley, sophomore Estee Teo, and sophomore Elise Kempf earned fourth place in the 4x800-meter relay by setting a new school record of 9:14.64.
- Senior Iniyaa Mohanraj qualified eighth for the 100-meter hurdles.
- Senior Alexa Lowe qualified second for the 400-meter hurdles in a career-best time of 1:05.45.
Top Performances in the Field
- Sophomore Ava Barnes tied for sixth in the pole vault after clearing 3.31 meters.
- Junior Sara Christie placed seventh in the shot put with a mark of 10.98 meters while freshman Violet McCullough was eighth with a mark of 10.87 meters.
