Tartans Host Annual Invitational

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team hosted its annual Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Gesling Stadium. The Tartans competed in a field comprised of Division I, II and III institutions.

Top Performances on the Track:

  • Graduate student Chloe Bonson won the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:08.34 with junior Ananya Devpura placing fifth after crossing on 17:23.32.
  • Senior Margaret Ann Healy posted a personal-best time of 2:16.51 in the 800-meter run to win the race. Senior Jackie Liu finished with a time of 2:17.89 and placed fourth.
  • The 1,500-meter run has Liu run a personal-best time of 4:44.48 and placed fourth. Sophomore Elise Kempf also crossed with a personal-best time of 4:49.80 to place 10th.
  • Healy ran the 400-meter race for the first time in her collegiate career and took ninth with a time 1:01.36.
  • Freshman Sophia Richie placed ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.33 seconds.
  • Junior Alaina Patel ran a personal-best time of 11:51.96 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and placed 10th.
  • Senior Orit Shiang was the top Tartan in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:49.19 to place fifth.
  • The 1600-meter relay of freshman Alani Timmons, sophomore Estee Teo, freshman Lily Fox and sophomore Maggie Wu took third in 4:19.67 to close the meet.

Top Performances in the Field:

  • In the triple jump, Riche and senior Iniyaa Mohanraj placed third and sixth, respectively. Richie had a mark of 11.13 meters with Mohanraj jumping 10.45 meters. Richie's mark puts her third all-time time in CMU history.
  • Senior Zoe King recorded a jump of 5.05 meters and placed eighth in the long jump.
  • Sophomore Jessica Thiss tossed the hammer a personal-best 41.42 meters to place ninth.
  • Sophomore Ava Barnes cleared 3.31 meters in the pole vault and finished in 10th.

  • The Tartans will next compete at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University on Saturday, April 4.
