(MORGANTOWN, W.Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team opened its outdoor season at the West Virginia Pushkin Invitational and California University of Pennsylvania Vulcan's Early Bird on Friday and Saturday.

Top Performances at WVU

  • Freshman Sophia Riche jumped 10.89 meters to finish third in the triple jump. She also finished fourth in a time of 15.34 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. Riche later finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:11.06.
  • Freshman Adrienne Warren finished eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.65 meters.
  • Sophomore Catalina Howells finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.59 meters.

Top Performances at CUP

  • Freshman Violet McCullough threw a school record mark of 40.83 meters to take first place in discus. She topped the previous mark of 40.75 meters held by Lindy Cornwall in 2022.
  • Senior Zoe King finished 14th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.58.
  • Senior Iniyaa Mohanraj finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.29.
  • In the 400-meter hurdles, senior Alexa Lowe finished in fifth in a time of 1:07.92, a new personal best.
  • In Hammer throw junior Sara Christie threw 33.01 meters to take 11th place.
  • In shot put, McCullough took fifth place with a throw of 10.82 meters, not far behind was Christie in eighth with a mark of 10.42 meters.
  • In the long jump, King took fourth with a jump of 5.45 meters, Lowe took ninth with a mark of 5.05 meters, and Mohanraj took 12th with a mark of 4.91 meters.
  • Lowe took fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.97. Mohanraj finished 10th with a mark of 10.22 meters.
