Tartans Compete at Two Meets

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team traveled to two meets on Friday, February 20. The Tartans competed in the Penn State Tune Up and the Mount Union Last Chance meet for the last competition before the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships.

Top Events at Penn State

  • Senior Zoe King won the long jump with a mark of 5.41 meters and senior Iniyaa Mohanraj placed seventh with a mark of 4.97 meters.
  • Mohanraj later won the triple jump with a 10.85 meter jump. Sophomore Alin Aydogan placed third with a mark of 10.63 meters.
  • Freshman Sophia Riche took fifth in the 60-meter hurdle final, with a time of 9.28, to set a new personal best and the fourth fastest time in CMU history.
  • Freshman Alexis Ohler took 18th place in the mile with a season-best time of 5:19.58. Junior Alaina Patel finished in 22nd with a time of 5:25.58. Both times were personal bests.

Top Performances at Mount Union

  • Sophomore Ava Barnes won the pole vault with a mark of 3.63 meters.
  • In the weight throw, freshman Violet McCullough took fourth place throwing the element 12.38 meters. Junior Sara Christie threw a mark of 12.26 meters to place fifth. Sophomore Jessica Thiss placed seventh with a mark of 11.84 meters.
  • In the shot put, Christie placed third with a mark of 11.0 meters and in sixth place was McCullough with a mark of 10.52 meter.
  • Sophomore Allison Fan took third place in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:41.02.
  • In the mile, freshman Eva Adam placed second with a time of 5:34.37 to record her collegiate best.
  • Graduate student Kate Stamper ran a 8.53 in the 60-meter dash to place third. In the 200-meter dash, Stamper ran a time of 28.73 to place sixth.
  • Sophomore Estee Teo placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.01.
