Tartans Compete at Bison Challenge and Jim Wuske Collegiate Invitational

(LEWISBURG, Pennsylvania) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed in the Bucknell Bison Challenge and Multi Meet and the Mount Union Jim Wuske Collegiate Invitational on Friday and Saturday, January 30th and 31st.

Top Track Performance at Bucknell

  • Just one week after breaking the mile school record, senior Margaret Ann Healy broke another record in the 3000-meter with a time of 9:58.12 winning the race. She was the first woman in Carnegie Mellon history to break the 10-minute barrier. Junior Maya Ducker and Ananya Devpura followed shortly behind with new Carnegie Mellon all-time record list times of 10:08.05 and 10:08.21 to place fourth and fifth place finish.
  • In the 800-meter run, senior Jacki Liu and sophomore Elise Kempf finished second and third with times of 2:19.52, and 2:20.23, respectively.

Top Field Performances at Bucknell

  • Freshman Isabelle Garlick and sophomore Catalina Howells tied for fourth in the high jump with jumps of 1.49 meters.
  • In the long jump senior Iniyaa Mohanraj jumped 5.16 meters placing eighth, senior Zoe King placed eight jumping 5.06 meters.
  • In the pole vault sophomore Ava Barnes and junior Hazel Buonopane vaulted 3.35 meters to place fourth and fifth respectively.
  • In the triple jump senior Iniyaa Mohanraj jumped 10.89 meters to get fourth place in a season best.

Top Track Performances at Mount Union

  • In the 3000-meter run freshman Alexis Ohler ran 11:01.86, a collegiate best to place third.
  • Junior Adelaide Hall ran a 5:43.45 to place eighth in the mile.
  • Sophomore Estee Teo won the 800-meter dash with a 2:25.37. She was followed by freshman Eva Adam who placed sixth with a time of 2:31.82.

Top Field Performances at Mount Union

  • Sophomore Alexa Lowe jumped 10.24 meters to place seventh in the triple jump
  • In the weight throw, sophomore Jessica Thiss threw 12.20 meters to place seventh.
  • Junior Sara Christie placed 11th in the shot put with a throw of 10.71 meters.

The Tartans will head to the Doug Raymond Invitational at Kent State University on Friday and Saturday, February 6th and 7th.
