Tartans Record Multiple PRs at Westminster Invite

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at two different events this weekend. The full team headed to New Wilmington to compete in the Westminster College Invitational while seven other athletes headed to the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, facing Division I, II and III institutions.

Top Performances at Westminster

  • The Tartans swept the 3,000-meter steeplechase with sophomore Alaina Patel taking first with a personal-best time of 12:07.18, followed by junior Cora Marcet with a time of 12:07.61 and senior Norah Czajka took third with a time of 12:27.75.
  • Seniors Lauren May and Alyssa Hoffman placed first and second with times of 18:28.21 and 18:30.71, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run. They were followed by sophomore Kara Mathias in fifth with a time of 10:00.30. It was a personal-best time for May and Mathias.
  • Senior Lauryn McKenna took second place in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 40:30.75.
  • Senior Hayley Kilgore placed fourth in the 1,500-meter as she crossed in a persoanl-best time of 4:56.03.
  • Junior Iniyaa Mohanraj placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 15.89 and Aydogan took fifth in 16.10.
  • Senior Sunny Tang took fifth place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.06.
  • Senior Jocelyn Kiefel took fifth place in the long jump with a mark of 5.05 meters.
  • Junior Katie Monahan hit a mark of 11.85 in the shot put for seventh place.
  • Freshman Ava Barnes also took seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 3.60 meters.
  • Kiefel placed third with a mark of 11.27 meters in the triple jump, followed by freshman Alin Aydogan in fifth place with a mark of 10.74 meters.
  • Freshman Catalina Howells placed fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters.

Top Performances at Bucknell

  • Sophomore Maya Ducker broke the school rcord in the 5,000-meter run when she crossed in 17:06.13. The previous school record was 17:15.27 set in 2013 by Emily Wobb.
  • Junior Orit Shiang competed in the 5,000-meter run as well and also topped Wobb's time as she crossed in 17:11.59.
  • Junior Margaret Ann Healy placed 12th in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:45.56.
