Guevel Makes Final at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships
(WAVERLY, Iowa) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2012 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships Friday, March 9. The 2012 event is hosted by Grinnell College in Waverly, Iowa.
Guevel ran in the first of two heats and won her heat with a time of 8.78 seconds. Her time was .01 seconds off her school record time set earlier this season. Guevel finished Friday with the second best time, as sophomore Tiarra Goode of Birmingham-Southern won the second heat with a time of 8.65.
Last season, Guevel earned All-America honors after placing sixth in the 55-meter hurdles. She will look to become an All-American for the second straight season, as she will run with seven others in the final of the 60-meter hurdles Saturday at 5:05 p.m. CT.
