Spalding and Moses Highlight Tartans at Dave Labor Invitational
(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock University Saturday, April 14.
Freshman Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Springstead) recorded a season-best time in the 200-meter race with a time of 26.67 seconds to place second. Senior Ivana Moses (New Rochelle, N.Y./Phillips Exeter) also turned in a season-best as well as a personal-best time Saturday afternoon. The senior crossed the finish line with a time of 13.17 seconds to place third in the 100-meter dash.
Moses competed in the long jump as well, where she placed-second with a distance of 4.77 meters. Freshman Stephanie Chen (Vancouver, B.C./Crofton House School) finished third in the long jump with a mark of 4.62 meters.
Sophomore Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Harker School) turned in another first-place showing in the 400-meter hurdles as she clocked a time of 1:03.61. She crossed the line in 14.50 in the 100-meter hurdles to place second.
In the hammer throw, sophomore Samantha Oleson (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) threw a distance of 39.67 meters, tying her personal-best throw, to place fourth.
Carnegie Mellon will be back in action Saturday, April 21 as they compete at the IUP Invitational.
