Tartans Compete at Kent State Tune-Up Stats

(KENT, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team traveled to Kent, Ohio for the Kent State University Tune-Up on Saturday, February 18 and competed against a contingent of teams from Division I, II and III. Several athletes finished with season-best performances.

Sophomore Samantha Oleson (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) recorded a season-best mark of 11.95 meters in the weight throw when she finished 27th overall. Sophomore Jane Kim (Clifton, Va./Centreville) also recorded a season-best mark in the weight throw, finishing 32nd with a mark of 10.96 meters.

Senior Ivana Moses (New Rochelle, N.Y./Phillips Exeter) placed 19th in the long jump with a mark of 4.78 meters and ran the 60-meter dash in 8.37 seconds. Sophomore Marissa Bynoe (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) placed 15th in the triple jump with a mark of 9.76 meters.

Freshman Halley Bayer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) finished 19th in the mile run with a time of 5:31.91 as fellow freshman Hailey Brown (Wellsville, N.Y./Wellsville) was 28th in 5:47.90. Sophomore Kelsey Hallinen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded a season-best time in the 400-meter dash when she crossed 39th overall in 1:06.56 and reshman Sara Kelly (Madison, Wis./West) ran the 3,000-meter run in 11:35.31 to finish 23rd overall.

Sophomore Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) won the 300-meter hurdles in 45.96 seconds and crossed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.92 seconds.

The Tartans will next travel to New York University for the University Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26.
