Kanumuri Honored by UAA

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University freshman Ika Kanumuri was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week for her performance over the weekend at the ITA Cup as she advanced to the semifinals of the national event.

Kanumuri won her first round match by a 6-0, 6-2 score against sophomore Karina Elvestrom from Gustavus Adolphus and then topped the number two seed, sophomore Fiona Lee of MIT, in the quarterfinals by the scores of 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals. Kanumuri faced sophomore Rebecca Kong of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semifinals and fell 6-3, 7-6 (5).
