Zinchenko Ends Season in NCAA Singles Bracket
(CLAREMONT, Calif.) – Carnegie Mellon University freshman women's tennis athlete Shelly Zinchenko competed in the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championship on Saturday, May 24 with a round of 64 match on the campus of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
Zinchenko, ranked 23rd in the nation, opened the tournament against senior Konika Dhull of Skidmore College. After Dhull won the first set 6-3, Zinchenko forced a third set with a 6-2 win. The Tartan freshman took the first point in the third set but ending up falling behind 5-2 before Dhull held serve to win the last point and the match.
Zinchenko is the first Tartan freshman to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship since senior Sarah Yang competed in the end-of-year tournament in 2022.
