Zinchenko Named ITA Regional Rookie of the Year

(TEMPE, Ariz.) – Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis freshman Shelly Zinchenko was honored as the Division III Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Regional Rookie of the Year. Zinchenko is the fifth Tartan in program history
to receive the honor and first since Danna Taylor in 2019.

Zinchenko, the University Athletic Association Rookie of the Year and first-team honors at first singles, has a 31-6 overall record with her 31 wins setting the school record for wins in a season as Taylor (2018-19) and Laura Chen (2010-11) had 29. She has a dual match record of 14-3 in the first position this year and a perfect slate at the two-spot, winning all seven matches played there.

Zinchenko will play in the singles bracket of the NCAA Division III Championship with play beginning on Saturday, May 24 at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California.
