Yang and Zinchenko Invited to NCAA Women's Individual Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – Senior Sarah Yang and freshman Shelly Zinchenko have been selected to play for the NCAA Division III Women's Individual Championships to be held at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California, May 23-27. The championships are being hosted by Claremont McKenna Mudd Scripps Colleges.

Both Yang and Zinchenko were selected to the singles bracket, and each will mark the fourth invite for Yang to the individual championships.

Yang has a singles record of 10-7 this year. The last two seasons, the senior had to withdraw from the national tournament, but in 2022 Yang advanced to the round of 16 at the championships.

Zinchenko, the University Athletic Association Rookie of the Year, has a 31-6 overall record with her 31 wins setting the school record for wins in a season as Danna Taylor (2018-19) and Laura Chen (2010-11) had 29. She has a dual match record of 14-3 in the first position this year and a perfect slate at the two-spot, winning all seven matches played there.

The bracket for the individual championships will be released on May 23 but not before 1:00 p.m. Eastern time.
