#11 Tartans End Season in Third Round of NCAA Championship
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis hosted sixth-ranked Wesleyan University in the third round of 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship Saturday afternoon and dropped a 4-0 match. The Tartans move to 23-5 with Wesleyan moving to 20-3.
Inside the Results:
- Wesleyan took the point in doubles with wins at one and three.
- The Tartans second tandem of freshman Ancele Dolensek and junior Divya Venkatarama were tied at 4-all when doubles was halted.
- At number one singles, freshman Shelly Zinchenko trailed 4-1 in the first set before winning 7-5. In the second set, Zinchenko trailed 4-2 when play was stopped
- Senior Sarah Yang won her first set 6-4 in the two spot and then was tied 3-all at the conclusion of the match in the second set.
Notes:
- The 23 wins for the Tartans is the most in a single season in program history. The 2008-09 and 2022-23 teams had 21 wins.
- This marked the seventh straight year that the Cardinal and Gray appeared in the NCAA Championship and 19th in program history.
- It was also the 17th time in program history that the Tartans at least reached the third round.
