#11 Tartans Advance to Third Round of NCAA Championship with 4-0 Win

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 11th in the nation, hosted 45th-ranked Ohio Northern University on Friday in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship. The Tartans won 4-0 to move to 23-4 for the season while Ohio Northern ends the season with a 19-5 mark.

Inside the Results:

  • Carnegie Mellon took the point in doubles with wins at one and two.
  • The Tartans top tandem of senior Zoe Angell and junior Anna Chow won 6-1 before freshman Ancele Dolensek and junior Divya Venkatarama won 6-3 at the two spot.
  • Venkatarama made the score 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at four singles.
  • Freshman Shelly Zinchenko pushed the Tartans lead to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the top spot.
  • The match was clinched when freshman Vicroia Gazda won 6-2, 6-2 at five singles.

  • The Tartans will face No. 6 Wesleyan University in the third round on Saturday, May 10 at 9:00 a.m. on their home courts in Pittsburgh.
