Venkatarama Honored by UAA

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Divya Venkatarama was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week for her performance over the Tartans spring trip.

Venkatarama helped the Carnegie Mellon women's tennis team to a 7-0 week by going 5-0 in singles play and 4-0 in doubles play. She clinched match points against #20 Kenyon and #17 Christopher Newport, both at fourth singles. She finished the week with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins against North Central College, an NCAA tournament team a year ago, and #37 Grinnell College, also a tournament team last year. All four of her doubles victories came at the second position while she had four wins at fourth singles and one at third singles.

The Tartans will next compete on Saturday, March 15 with a pair of matches against Washington and Lee University and the University of Mary Washington. Both events will be held at Mary Washington.
