#12 Tartans Win Shortened Match Over #20 Kenyon
(ORLANDO, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 12th in Division III, play 20th-ranked Kenyon College on Wednesday morning in Orlando, Florida. The Tartans won 4-2 and are now 8-0 in dual action while Kenyon is 1-3.
Inside the Results:
- There was no point decided in doubles, as play was suspended due to weather and when continues the teams started with singles.
- Junior Manuela Van Cotthem recorded the first point for the Tartans with a 6-0, 6-0 win at six singles.
- The Tartans received points at five and three singles sandwiched with a victory by Kenyon at the top spot to make the score 3-1.
- Freshman Victoria Gazda won 6-2, 6-3 at five singles and classmate Shelly Zinchenko won 6-1, 6-1 at two singles.
- Kenyon then won at three singles to make the score 3-2 before junior Divya Venkatarama sealed the win with a victory at the fourth spot 7-5, 6-2.
