Zinchenko Honored by UAA

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University freshman Shelly Zinchenko was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week for her performance over the weekend.

Zinchenko helped the 12th-ranked Tartans to a pair of victories over two Division II institutions, West Virginia Wesleyan College and Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday. Zinchenko started the day with a straight set win at first singles against West Virginia Wesleyan. Against IUP, a team that advanced to the NCAA Division II round of 16 a year ago, she posted a straight set victory at second singles and teamed with senior Zoe Angell to claim a 7-5 win at third doubles.

The Tartans will next compete on Friday, February 14 when they play Slippery Rock University at 6:30 p.m.
