#6 Tartans Open Spring Break Tour with 9-0 Win

(CLAREMONT, Calif.) - The #6 Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team began its spring break tour with a 9-0 blanking of University of Texas-Tyler on Monday, March 11 to improve to 6-2 on the year.

The team swept doubles play as freshmen Abbey Hamstra (Wheatfield, Ind./Kankakee Valley) and Brooke Tsu (Hillsborough, Calif./Burlingame) won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles, sophomores Chelsea Motie (Melbourne, Fla./West Shore) and Bryn Raschke (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines) won 8-4 at No. 2 doubles and junior Katie Cecil (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) and sophomore Angela Pratt (Saratoga, Calif./St. Francis) won 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.

Freshman Elizabeth Martin (St. Simons Island, Ga./Frederica Academy) won her No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-4 over Rachel Cole as Cecil, Motie, Pratt, Tsu and Hamstra also racked up victories.
