Caileigh Purcell was hired as an assistant swimming and diving coach and the coordinator of aquatics in November 2025.

Purcell comes to Pittsburgh after serving as an assistant swimming and diving coach at Youngstown State University from 2022 through 2024. Her coaching experience also includes a head coaching role at Bethany College in West Virginia for three seasons from November 2019 through May 2022. Purcell’s coaching experience began in 2013 at the Spencer Family YMCA in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, while she also spent time as a swim lesson coordinator at Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics for two years developing and implementing the learn to swim program.

A 2017 graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Athletic Coaching, Purcell also minored in psychology and nutrition and fitness while swimming for the Golden Eagles in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and 200-yard freestyle. Purcell earned her master’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Arkansas in December 2020.
