Tartans Continue Run at UAA Championships
(CHICAGO, Ill.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team finished the third day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday, February 13. The Tartans remain in fifth place with 637.5 points for the meet.
Top Performances
- Freshman Audrey Gil opened the evening finals with an All-UAA finish by placing third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.21.
- Sophomore Alexandra Scharpf was the first Tartan to touch the wall in the 400-yard IM with a seventh-place finish in a time of 4:29.60.
- Senior Sophie Elliott was the top finisher for the Tartans in the 200-yard freestyle, placing 14th with a time of 1:53.82.
- Freshman Victoria Sun placed tenth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.74.
- Senior Savannah Xu touched eighth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.34. Sophomore Olivia Giuffre placed 12th with a time of 56.95, a new career best.
- The Tartans placed sixth in the 200-yard medley relay. Giuffre, senior Audrey Lambert, Xu, and Gil finished in 1:44.50, just 0.5 seconds off a school-record time.

The championship meet concludes on Saturday, February 14 with preliminaries in the 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, and the 1,650-yard freestyle beginning at 10:00 a.m.
