Tartans in Fifth Place at UAA Championships after Second Day
(CHICAGO, Ill.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team continued competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Thursday, February 12. The Tartans are in fifth place with 321.5 points.
Top Performances
- The 200-yard freestyle relay of freshman Alefiya Dhansura, freshman Audrey Gil, junior Anna Zaniolo, and senior Grace Malinger opened the evening session with a sixth-place finish in and NCAA qualifying time of 1:34.84.
- Senior Sophie Elliott was the top Tartan in the 500-yard freestyle, as she finished 18th overall in a season-best time of 5:05.80.
- Senior Savannah Xu won the B Final of the 200-yard IM with an NCAA qualifying time of 2:05.60. Freshman Victoria Sun finished third in the same heat in 2:06.57.
- Gil made the B Final of the 50-yard freestyle and tied for the lead of the heat with a time of 23.66.
- The 400-yard medley relay closed the evening with a fifth-place finish with Xu, Sun, Gil, and junior Anna Zaniolo finishing in 3:48.45.

The championship meet continues on Friday, February 12 with preliminaries in the 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard IM, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, and 100-yard backstroke beginning at 10:00 a.m.
