Tartans Close Regular Season With Home Dual Meet Against Calvin
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team closed the regular season with a home dual meet with Calvin University on Saturday, January 31. The Knights won the meet, 178.50 to 120.50 with the Tartans winning six events.
Top Performances
- Senior Savannah Xu won three races for the fifth time this season. The senior touched first in the 100-yard backstroke (57.30), 200-yard backstroke (2:05.29), and the 200-yard IM (2:10.07).
- Senior Audrey Soetanto led a sweep of the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.96.
- Freshman diver Clarissa Co won the 1-meter event with a six-dive score of 286.20.
- Freshman Audrey Gil touched first in the 100-yard butterfly in 57.33.
- Second-place finishes were picked up by freshman Chloe Mihaly (200-yard freestyle – 1:56.04), sophomore Yuchen Zhou (100-yard backstroke – 59.22), sophomore Natalia Evans-Gibson (200-yard butterfly – 2:08.74), and senior Sophie Elliott (500-yard freestyle – 5:19.50).
- Third-place finishes came from Soetanto (200-yard IM – 2:12.94), Evans-Gibson (100-yard butterfly – 59.42), junior Elizabeth Shaffer (200-yard breaststroke – 2:25.87), Mihaly (100-yard freestyle – 53.49), Gil (50-yard freestyle – 24.31), freshman Katelyn Smittle (200-yard butterfly – 2:15.39), senior Audrey Lambert (100-yard breaststroke – 1:07.87), sophomore Alexandra Scharpf (1,000-yard freestyle – 11:00.87)
