Tartans Set Two School Records to Lead off Kenyon Total Performance Invitational

(GAMBIER, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team competed in the first day of the Total Performance Invitational at Kenyon College on Thursday, November 20. An exciting day for the Tartans, as freshman Audrey Gil broke two school records, individually and in a relay.

Top Performances

  • Senior Sophie Elliott placed ninth in the 500-yard freestyle finals with a time of 5:06.97.
  • In the prelims of the 50-yard freestyle, Gil swam 23.65 to go .04 under senior Grace Malinger's 2022 school record time of 23.69. In the finals, Gil swam 23.64, to break her school record from earlier in the day and placed tenth.
  • The Tartans were fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Gil, freshman Alefiya Dhansura, junior Anna Zaniolo, and Malinger finishing in 1:34.66, breaking the school record of 1:35.03 set in 2020.
  • In the 200-yard IM, senior Savannah Xu swam a 2:04.54 to place third and score 31 points. Freshman Victoria Sun placed sixth with a time of 2:05.50.
  • Xu, Sun, Gil, and Zaniolo placed fourth in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:49.06 to close the night.
