Tartans Pick Up Third Dual-Meet Win Against Gettysburg

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team hosted Gettysburg College on Saturday, November 8. The Tartans came out on top with a final score of 153-92.

Meet Highlights

  • The Tartans swept two events.
  • Senior Savannah Xu won three events for the third straight meet and improved on two of her NCAA qualifying times.
  • Freshman Audrey Gil won two events.

Inside the Results

  • Senior Audrey Soetanto won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:55.04.
  • Xu led a sweep of the 100-yard backstroke with her third win in the event this year. Her time of 55.92 was followed by sophomore Olivia Giuffre in 58.09 and freshman Lili Trinh in 59.79.
  • Sophomore Natalia Evans-Gibson just outtouched senior Sophie Elliott in the 200-yard butterfly to win with a time of 2:09.40. Elliott's time was 2:09.55.
  • Gil continued her 50-yard freestyle dominance with her second win of the season with a time of 24.26.
  • Xu picked up her second meet win in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:01.99.
  • Junior Elizabeth Shaffer touched first in the 200-yard breaststroke to lead a sweep of the event with a time of 2:26.41. Freshman Tran Doan was second in 2:27.76 while sophomore Allie Kim was third in 2:29.31.
  • Elliott got her first win of the day in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.46. Freshman Victoria Sun was second in 5:18.10.
  • Gil then touched first in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 57.04 ahead of Soetanto in second in 58.60.
  • Xu closed the meet with a victory in the 400-yard IM in 4:31.78.
  • Freshman Clarissa Co earned 287.70 points on the 3-meter board and 280.20 points on the 1-meter board to meet her first qualifying scores of the season.
