Tartans Compete in Day 3 of UAAs
(ATLANTA, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team competed in the third day of the University Athletic Association Championships (UAA) on Friday, February 14 at Emory University. The Tartans competed in four A-finals and six finals events total. After day three, they are in sixth place out of eight teams with 567 points.
Top Performances
- Freshman Alexandra Scharpf finished sixth in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:28.88.
- Junior Audrey Soetanto swam the 100-yard butterfly in 56:30, placing 10th.
- Junior Audrey Lambert placed seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.85. In the B-final, sophomore Elizabeth Shaffer placed 11th in 1:05.55, senior Emma Kulbida placed 14th in 1:06.46, and freshman Allie Kim placed 16th in 1:07.01.
- Junior Savannah Xu and junior Sophie Elliott led the 100-yard backstroke B-final, placing ninth and 10th with times of 56.86 and 57.12, respectively. Freshman Olivia Giuffre finished 12th in 57.43.
- The relay team of Elliott, Lambert, Xu, and junior Grace Malinger were fifth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:44.95.
