Tartans Sit in Fourth Place at Total Performance Invitational
(GAMBIER, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team competed in the second day of the Total Performance Invitational at Kenyon College on Friday, November 22. The Tartans ended the second day of the three-day meet in fourth place out of eight teams with 687 points.
Top Performances
- Freshman Olivia Giuffre, junior Audrey Lambert, junior Grace Malinger, and sophomore Anna Zaniolo finished seventh in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.49 to start the meet.
- Junior Audrey Soetanto finished 10th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.93.
- Freshman Alexandra Scharpf finished sixth in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:36.78 in the finals after touching in 4:35.14 in the preliminaries.
- Sophomore Elizabeth Shaffer finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:53.31 while freshman Angelina Sanna finished first in the B Final for the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.46.
- Shaffer later touched first with a time of 1:05.14 in the B Final of the 100-yard breaststroke. Lambert finished third in the same race with a time of 1:05.86 while freshman Allie Kim finished fifth in a time of 1:06.00 and senior Emma Kulbida was 10th in the heat in 1:06.61.
- Giuffre swam in the 100-yard backstroke final and placed sixth with a time of 57.62.
- Freshman Yuchen Zhou took second place in the B Final of the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.13.
- The 800-yard freestyle relay of Soetanto, junior Eliana Szabo, Sanna, an Elliott placed sixth in a time of 7:42.22.
