Xu Honored as UAA Swimmer of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore Savannah Xu has been honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Swimmer of the Week after her performance in the Tartans' first dual meet of the season at Washington and Lee University on Saturday, October 21.

Xu was a star in her second meet of the season as the 12th-ranked Tartans topped the Generals, 161-101 on Saturday. Xu began the meet as the lead-off swimmer in the 200-yard medley relay that placed first with a time of 1:48.60. She then cruised to three victories with a more than three-second win in the 100-yard backstroke in 57.04 and a more than seven-second win in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:04.47. She finished off the meet with a near four-second win in the 200-yard IM in 2:07.34.

Xu currently leads the nation in the 200-yard IM while her 100-yard backstroke time is second in the nation and her 200-yard backstroke time is fourth.

Xu and the rest of the Carnegie Mellon swimmers and divers will next hit the pool on Saturday, October 28 at Case Western Reserve University starting at 1:00 p.m.
