Tartans Swim at Denison

(GRANVILLE, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team competed against national power Denison University on Saturday, January 26 at Denison, falling 147-118.

Junior Megan Garvey (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.80 and second in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.54.

Sophomore Kaeli Halbersleben (Maineville, Ohio/Kings) touched in 11:01.78 in the 1,000-yard freestyle while senior Soleil Phan (Irvine, Calif./Beckman) was second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:10.74 and second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:12.54.

Freshman Kira Singhaus (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.60. Freshman Felicia Wang (Mission Viejo, Calif./Capistrano Valley) was second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.95 while sophomore Wendy Liu (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) was second in the 200-yard IM in 2:17.16.

Senior Breanna Stillo (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) touched the wall in 25.02 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and 55.19 in the 100-yard freestyle. Junior Vivian Wong (Saratoga, Calif./The Harker School) finished the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:31.51.

Freshman Paige Sieffert (Ann Arbor, Mich./Saline) was second in the 200-yard backstroke touching in 2:15.51.

Freshman Andie Azofeifa (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) dove to a second-place finish on the 1-meter board collecting 176.18 points and tallied 144.15 points on the 3-meter board.

The women will stay close to home next week when they go to the University of Pittsburgh for an 11:30 a.m. meet.
