Bio

Kathy McConnell-Miller, who has coached at the high school, college and professional levels, was named the head coach of the Carnegie Mellon Women's Basketball program in May 2024.

McConnell-Miller led the Tartans to the NCAA Tournament in her first season after finishing second in the University Athletic Association (UAA) for just the second time in program history. The Tartans won their first-round game against Bridgewater State University to capture the program's fourth NCAA victory and second trip to the second round. The team tied the school record for the most wins in school history with 21 and best record at 21-6. The team also set the school record for three-pointers made in a season with 172 while shooting 34.7% from long range.

• Began coaching career in 1991 at the University of Pittsburgh as an assistant coach

• First head coaching position was at the University of Tulsa from 1999-2005
  • Record of 91-88; left as Tulsa's all-time leader for coaching victories

• Head coach at the University of Colorado for five seasons beginning in 2005

Playing Career

• Four-year player at the University of Virginia (1986-90)
• Appeared in four NCAA Tournaments 
• Advanced to the Sweet 16 twice and the Elite 8 in 1988

Family

• McConnell-Miller and her husband Brad live in the Mt. Lebanon area. They are the proud parents of Brice, Mackenzie and Macie.
• One of eight children, she is one of six McConnell siblings who attended college on a basketball scholarship.
