Dinker Honored by UAA and D3hoops.com
(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball freshman Aleena Dinker has been honored by the University Athletic Association and D3hoops.com for her performance during the Tartans' road trip to 13th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis and 21st-ranked University of Chicago. Dinker earned UAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week and was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the first time in her career.
The first year point guard for the Tartans averaged 18 points and six assists when the team defeated WashU on Friday before falling by six points at UChicago on Sunday. Dinker led the Tartans to a season sweep of WashU for the second time in two years with a career-best 29 points on 55.6% shooting from the floor and a career-best five made three-pointers. She also dished out five assists in the game and had two steals. Against UChicago, she tallied seven points and seven assists with four of her points coming in the fourth quarter as the Tartans climbed to within three points with a minute to play.
The Tartans are back in action at home when they host the University of Rochester on Friday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m.
